Anybody here collect coins
|
I'm not much of a collector but recently there's a few rare ones that I have found in my spare change and decided to try and keep hold of them. In the hope that someday might be worth abit of extra money.
Yes I'm a sad cunt!!

Quite the opposite but when you find a 50p that could be worth £100 ect it's worth checking your change. Thank me later

My dad told me about the 50p's worth wedge, but I've forgotten what he said.
When he worked at Standard Chartered Bank, there was a period where they would be paid in cash and he was given £25 in x£5 notes that he noticed hadn't been signed by the bank of England.
He recently sold them for £450 to a collector geek.
Lucky cunt.

I collect coins. And notes. Then I spend them. Then, when I collect more, I spend them too. Some of them I save. Not sure what for really. Maybe I'll let the kids have them when I die. But mostly the coins and notes I collect I spend and then wait to get some more. It's fun.

I recently got a new fiver with an AA05 serial number which I stuck on ebay for a laugh, and somebody has bid £7.50 + postage.
Some people will buy anything.

Cor blimey, must be 50 odd years I reckon Trev.
He retired when he was 50 and is 78 this year, so must have been years and years ago. Maybe even when he was still a messenger there before climbing the ranks.
The bank asked everyone to return the notes, but he's always been shrewd and figured they'd be worth more money.
He didn't pass that trait down, I'm fucking useless.

Looks like they got a bargain as some of these lower AA* serial numbers go for over £200
